Love|Fear|Art, as an idea, began after a blog I read that claimed there were only two human emotions that all others derive from: love and fear. For example, love breeds happiness and joy; fear breeds anger and hatred. As I analyzed my own life, I realized that every single decision I’ve made, that has lead me to this moment in time, was based on either love or fear.
I dropped out of Culinary School because I feared that not only was I not good enough to achieve the level of success necessary to make it worthwhile, but also that I was meant to be doing something else. (in hindsight, neither were really true, but I have crippling self-doubt which leads to poor work ethic). This lead to a deep hatred for the industry and I eventually switched to Entertainment.
Speaking of entertainment, I packed my car and moved across the country to Los Angeles because of my love and passion for the art of filmmaking. This lead to a deep love for photography and creating images in general (moving or still). But enough about me. Let’s talk about what I want this site to do for you.
First goal is simple: I want every single piece of art on this site to be emotionally resonating. I want it to lead to self discovery. I want it to be cathartic.
My photography will be presented in series. The first one is ”Love|Fear”. It will feature two photographs, same subject, but one in color, which will carry a theme of “Love”, and one in black and white, which will carry a theme of “Fear”. Together, they’ll tell a story. The first one is up now and you can find a link here.
You won’t just find stuff from me, either. I will also be showcasing other things from other talented people, once a week, every Monday. It could be a musician, an artist, a writer, or even a filmmaker. Eventually I’d love to even do some interviews or a Q&A as part of the Artist Showcase.
And, my second goal: to provide a safe place to come to improve your mental health. This is two-fold.
One, the art itself. Secondly, you will find an entire section in the menu dedicated to Mental Health Awareness. Numbers you can call. Places you can go. Organizations you can volunteer with. Non-profits you can donate to. Explore them!
Lastly, at some point, I will open up a community forum right here on the site for anyone who just needs somewhere to go to let out some of those emotions, anonymously or publicly. A place where you can meet like-minded people, other artists, others who struggle with depression, anxiety, and/or suicidal ideation.
A place to go for a friend.
Thanks for stopping by,
